How can I help?

I offer a large range of services around PHP development backed by a wealth of experience. Get in touch to discuss your requirements, and hopefully we can work together.

I’m well versed in full stack development, and comfortable writing custom PHP and working with existing platforms and frameworks. I can work as part of a larger team, or as the sole contractor on a project, no matter the size or scope.

Planning an ambitious project? Inherited a legacy codebase you need to re-factor? If you need advice on how to tackle a PHP-based project, I can come in to your team and point you in the right direction, and then leave you to be self-sufficient.

I can run workshops and training sessions for existing teams covering specific topics relevant to your upcoming projects. In the past, I’d delivered workshops on Laravel based on my recently-published book on the framework. I’ll even bring Krispy Kreme® donuts!

Being freelance means I’ve been lucky to work with many awesome people and companies. Below are some things that people I’ve worked with have said.

We hired Martin to deliver some Laravel consultancy/training for our team. Martin was excellent, and has extensive knowledge/experience of this framework. Highly recommended.

Ryan Foster, Director, Ryan Foster Design

I have worked with Martin on a number of projects for the ScS website and associated online collateral. At each step of the way, I have found him to be extremely knowledgeable in his field and precise at delivering to our brief. I would certainly work with him again and I would recommend him to any others looking for an expert in web development.

Steve Gilroy, Interim E-commerce Manager, ScS

I worked with Martin for six months on a project initially involving the refactoring of a large legacy codebase and subsequently the development of new features.

Martin quickly integrated with the team, and adapted to our development setup. He was able to quickly adapt to new tools, technologies and frameworks and worked at a rapid pace in refactoring the code, and developing new features. On particular strength is Martin’s ability to track down and fix issues in code—reporting issues on GitHub, discussing things with open source project maintainers and trying a range of approaches to find solutions to problems in third party code.

I enjoyed working with Martin and hope to get the chance to work with him on another project in the future.
